MRC has a storage and distribution infrastructure that is both scalable and
flexible.
Ideally located on the west coast of Scotland near to Oban but avoiding the
associated traffic congestion – arrive at the Connel Bridge on the A85 turn left, 6
miles to MRC straight off the main trunk road A828 from Oban to Ballachulish
Bridge where the road joins the A82 to Fort William and the North or Glasgow
and the Central belt and the South.
Storage and Distribution :
Access to the MRC pier is also
unrestricted for loading materials on
or off vessel of up to 60m in length at
a deep-water pier that has 5m of
depth at low water. Timber,
aggregates, sand and salt, fish food,
seaweed and livestock (fish and
animal) are all commodities that are
regularly distributed from the MRC
pier.
In addition a slipway facility of varying
depths (three-tiered) allows large
landing craft-type vessels of up to
40m to discharge loads of timber and
aggregate as well as providing a drive
on and off capability.
Storage :
MRC has a unique range of features
comprising industrial development
potential, deep-water pier, slipways
as well as approximately 25000
square metres (6acres) of covered
facilities, available on the 50000sq m
site.
25000sq m of outdoor area is
available for storage of materials such
as aggregate, timber, yacht storage
and fish farm equipment. The site has
an Industrial Class 3 designation for
operational use throughout.
This unique range of facilities provide
an excellent range of existing features
and infrastructure which is unrivalled
in the Scottish Highlands.
Distribution :
The site operates a number of different commodities handling
equipment, offering a fully flexible solution to materials
handling and distribution to meet a wide range of customers
requirements.
Extensive warehousing facilities are available for rent or can
be operated by MRC on behalf of a third party company as a managed service to
provide flexibility to your business operations.
MRC’s dedicated staff are already experienced in the use of picking lists, stock
rotation, historical data and tracking with administration providing a seamless
integration with new customers systems.
Local Network :
MRC is ideally located for West Coast distribution. It is located on Loch Creran,
which is easily navigable by both smaller leisure vessels and large ocean going
ships. The deep-water pier at the site also allows vessels to come alongside at all
tides, and presents no problems for loading and unloading. The site is off the main
trunk road (A828) from Oban to Ballachulish Bridge where the road joins the A82 to
Fort William. Road access, therefore, is good to the North and the Highlands and
to Glasgow and the central belt. These unique features make MRC a perfect
distribution hub for the West Coast of Scotland.
The site at Barcaldine is 12 miles North of Oban and two hours comfortable drive
from Glasgow. It is also 6 miles from Oban Airport, which is suitable for
recreational, private and commercial use. Scheduled flights operate 4 days per
week travelling to the Isle of Coll, Tiree, and Colonsay. In addition Loch Lomond
Seaplanes have regular flights from Glasgow city centre to Oban between March
and October, but are also available for charter flights throughout the year.
