MRC energy

MRC Energy ...
MRC Energy Limited is a subsidiary company of The Marine Resource Centre Limited.

MRC Energy has a hydro-electric scheme which generates 350 kw of power for the whole site as well as the export of power to the National Grid.

The scheme was installed as part of the development of a large state of the art salmon Smolt production unit capable of producing up to 10 million juvenile salmon. Water will be piped from the MRC owned  reservoir, via the turbine, to the salmon Smolt unit.

In addition to the existing hydro-electric scheme, planning permission has been granted for a 4.7MWe Biomass Power Generation Plant located on site. The process of power generation by this method uses locally chipped sustainable timber and will generate heat as a by-product. Not only will the facility generate all the power requirements for the site and additional capacity to be exported to the National Grid, but it will also provide heat to the 6 acres of buildings on site at MRC.

Government funding is being investigated at present and once the facility is in place, it is considered that the combined heat and power will be an economic driver to locating to the MRC site.

MRC Energy also provide consultancy services for those who wish to set up renewable energy schemes.  For further information on this service please contact Martin Waterhouse
